Mrs. Mary Evelyn Del Longo, 98, died peacefully on July 5, 2020 in West Orange. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona, on Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. Condolences may be left at proutfuneralhome.com.

Born in Corning, N.Y., Mrs. Del Longo studied art in Chicago before moving to New York City to work as a traffic manager for Velisco. Here she met her husband and in 1950 the two moved to Cedar Grove, where they lived for the next 54 years. In 2004, Mrs. Del Longo moved to Hillwood Terrace in Verona.

Devoted to caring for her family, Mrs. Del Longo served as a Girl Scout leader for her daughters’ troops. She was also a member of the Rosary Society at St. Catherine of Siena Church and will be remembered as a talented seamstress, graphic artist and bookworm who enjoyed fine cooking.

Mrs. Del Longo was predeceased by her husband, Biagio J. Del Longo, daughter, Virginia Del Longo, sisters, Marjorie Crowley (Joseph) and Patricia Fleming and son-in-law, Lawrence Saphire.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Murphy (Daniel) and Patricia Saphire, grandchildren, Elisa (Daryl), Pamela, Ezra and Rachel and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
