Antonietta Melchiorre-Romeo, 92, of Verona, passed away peacefully in her home on June 12, 2020. Visitation at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home, Cedar Grove, and Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona, will be private due to social restrictions. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.

Born in Montefredane, Italy to the late Carmine and Giovanina Melchiorre, Antonietta immigrated to the U.S. in 1972 and settled and remained in Verona. Prior to retiring, she was a lunch aide at Verona High School, Verona for over 25 years, where she always gave an extra helping to those students who asked. Antonietta will always be remembered for her kindness, and a loving and giving attitude, who shared a big heart and warm smile to everyone she met. She was a very social person. She will be remembered for her artistry in the kitchen, and welcoming family and friends every Sunday for pasta, homemade sauce, chicken cutlets and salad. Above all things, she was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Antonietta is survived by her husband of 64 years, Giovanni Romeo; children, Emilio Romeo, and his wife, Maureen, Carmine Romeo, Anna Romeo, and Teresa Johnson, and her husband, David; grandchildren, Christina Farro (Frank); Melissa Werner (Cody); Lori Lee (Brian); John Romeo, Alysha Siegfried, Jessica Romeo, Anthony Romeo, Michael and Annie Johnson, and Margaret Romeo; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Joseph, Ashley and Anna Farro; Jameson, Austin and River Werner, and Konrad Romeo Lee; and Antonietta’s sister, Luiga Melchiorre in Italy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Verona Rescue Squad, 12 Church St., Verona, N.J. 07044.
