The Verona Public Library re-opened its Gould Street book drop on Tuesday, June 2, but there’s no need to rush back with your books. Library Director Claudine Pascale said in an email to cardholders that due dates on everything that was borrowed before the library was closed by COVID-19 have been extended to June 30. All books that are returned in the book drop will be quarantined for 72 hours.
While more Verona gathering spots will be allowed to re-open on June 15, the library is not yet among them. So Pascale is now planning to hold a virtual Summer Reading program called READsquared as a way to keep track of reading, play games, write reviews, earn badges and win prizes online. The Summer Reading program is for Verona residents of all ages, and registration will begin June 15.
The library offers a curated collection of eBooks and audiobooks that can be borrowed just like physical books. If you do not have a library card, you can apply for one through the library website.
