Dear Verona Community Members,

It is our hope that this email finds you healthy, happy, and safe at home. Although we recognize, with deep regret, that this is not the case for some of our families during these challenging times. Please know that we stand united as a community and remain here to help. Whether it is support with academic learning, free and reduced lunch, access to technology, social-emotional mental health support, or just someone to simply talk to. Our Verona faculty is here to help. Please do not hesitate to contact your school principal who will guide you as needed.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped keep our community Verona Strong, from our educators, to our first responders, to all of the volunteers and community supporters. We are only as strong as our collective effort. As we navigate these uncharted waters, it brings us great solace to know that the strength of our community will get us through to the other side. We will all be back together soon enough. But in the meantime, the school closure has been extended by Governor Murphy until at least May 15, 2020. As this fluid situation continues to evolve, our schools continue to strategically coordinate and respond to the circumstances that come our way.

Adversity is inevitable in life. That much I know for sure. But how we respond to it is a choice. Make the best of it. As I wrap up this message, I encourage you to take some time to click this link and listen to my friend, your friend, and Verona’s friend, Scott Chesney. For those of you who know Scott, his words of inspiration and positivity will resonate. For those of you who are haven’t quite yet had the pleasure, you’re in for a real treat. Sit back, relax, and take it all in.

Wishing you and your families great health. Stay safe and be well. #VeronaStrong #WeGotThis

Sincerely,

Dr. Rui Dionisio
Superintendent of Schools
