Ronald “Ron” P. Cecere, OLL Music Minister

Mr. Ronald “Ron” P. Cecere, 79, died on April 13, 2020 in West Caldwell. Condolences may be left at proutfuneralhome.com. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona at a later date.

Born and raised in Newark, Mr. Cecere moved to West Caldwell in 1974.

He earned his B.A. in English and classical languages from Seton Hall University and an M.A. in educational leadership from Montclair State University. Mr. Cecere taught English and critical writing at Newman Prep for 10 years before becoming Minister of Music at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona. He retired from Our Lady of the Lake in 2013 after 25 years of teaching and ministry.

Mr. Cecere was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Judith Cecere.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Rachel Cecere, son-in-law, John Filippini, brother, Anthony Cecere (Ann), sister-in-law, Genevieve Mager and brother-in-law, Fr. Martin Mager.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Music Program at Our Lady of the Lake Church (22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, NJ 07044) would be appreciated.

  1. Ron was a wonderful man-so decent, loyal and kind! I was in the OLL choir for several years, and Ron was our beloved director! He will be missed!!
