Carol L. Callander, Former OLL Teacher

Mrs. Carol L. Callander died on April 12, 2020 in Cedar Grove. Services and interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery were private. A Memorial Mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Lake Church when it is safe to do so.

Born in East Orange, Mrs. Callander grew up in Newark and moved to Verona 78 years ago. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Kean University.

Mrs. Callander was a primary school teacher. She taught kindergarten for the Livingston Board of Education, second grade for the North Caldwell Board of Education, and both preschool and kindergarten for Our Lady of the Lake School in Verona. She retired from teaching in 1978.

She served as treasurer of the North Caldwell Teachers’ Association for two years.

Mrs. Callander was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Lucille Hahn and dear friend, Michael Lucia.

She is survived by her children, Catherine Gard and James Callander (Lisa).
