Westview Road added its contribution to a growing nationwide celebration and appreciation of first responders and essential workers (too many to note) who continue to put their lives on the line to provide us with medical and crucial services to help to us survive during this crisis.
On Sunday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m., the neighbors on this block next to Everett Field opened their doors, stood on the grass, came to their patios, out to their driveways and clapped, applauded, waved their hands in support of caregivers. It was wonderful and essential for us all. We were, of course, at a safe distance from each other. Some neighbors were connecting with each other for the first time.
It was a warm and wonderful day of support and community connection.
We plan, as other cities around the country, to do this every Sunday at 7 p.m. until necessary, when we are all safe from the pandemic, especially the essential workers.
Good old MyVeronaNJ, keeping community news and actions current, informative and, at times, uplifting.
You can easily do the community action. Just take a walk form door to door (with a mask and distance) and tell your neighbors the day and time (Sunday @ 7:00 worked well for us) and would they like to be a part of the action. We were were genuinely pleased at the warm responses and subsequent gathering.
