The Mathewson sisters might now be wishing that they had continued on their family’s Easter walk yesterday. After they headed home, their dad, Paul Mathewson, passed a Verona business twice on his walk through town and then decided that he knew that the answer to Doors of Verona: April 12 was ChiQueen, the new Korean chicken place. There have been a lot of rave reviews for ChiQueen in the Verona Takeout & Delivery Service group on Facebook, with the consensus being that you should go for at least the level 2 heat on the wings.

For his winning guess, Paul won a $25 gift certificate from Amethyst Hair Studio. If you don’t know Amethyst already, it’s in the center of town–almost directly across the street from ChiQueen, as a matter of fact. It specializes in creative hair coloring and uses products that are organic, cruelty-free and vegan.

So now it is on to the third day of “Doors Of Verona,” our effort to brighten your days and support Verona businesses during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. Photographer Fred Goode can no longer go into many of the locations that he liked to photograph for our “Where In Verona Is It?” contests. So he has gone all over town photographing doors.

The door for April 13 is in the photo above. If you know where it is, you’ll need to post your guess in the comments section of the story below. The location may have been featured in previous contests.

The winner of each day’s contest gets a gift certificate to use at a Verona business; MyVeronaNJ.com is spending $1,000 to buy them. The day’s gift certificate won’t match the location photographed, so the person who guesses today’s door will be getting a gift certificate from Empyrean Massage & Bodywork.

Each day’s contest will remain open until we have a winner, and if you win once, you can’t win again. So, where was today’s photo taken?

  1. Ding, Ding, Ding: We have a winner. Sarah Frawley was the first to post the correct answer, which is Krauszer’s on Grove Avenue. Congratulations Sarah, and please watch your emails for the gift certificate from Empyrean!
