Yesterday, eight Verona food businesses delivered food to Saint Barnabas Medical Center workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. The restaurants–The Guac Spot, Frank Anthony’s, ChiQueen, Miele’s, The Thai Elephant, Empanada Lady and Avenue Bistro–and caterer Tia’s Food of Love together created more than 500 lunches.

The eateries, which have been hard hit by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, were paid for their efforts through a fundraiser created by Verona resident Kate Fuller Curren.

“We want to thank all the hospital workers, the restaurants involved and especially all the residents who contributed to make this happen,” the Township of Verona said in an Instagram post. “It was a tremendous effort and we could not be more proud of our community. Stay safe, stay home and be well. #StandWithVerona #VeronaStrong”
