The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has come to be known as Giving Tuesday, a day to thank volunteer groups and nonprofits with something that can support them all year long–a charitable donation.
Many of you probably have groups around the country and around the world that you give to on Giving Tuesday. But there are many opportunities for philanthropy right here at home in Verona. These Verona groups can put a donation to good use in our community all year long, improving our health and safety, and providing everything from food to scholarships. Many Verona groups also support youth sports and we’ve put Verona’s newest sport, field hockey, on the list this year. We’re also including Backpacks For Life, a Verona-based non-profit that supports homeless veterans all over.
And while you’re clicking on the donation page for each of these groups, take a minute to read about their mission and their need for volunteers. A few hours of your time can be as important to these groups as your donation.
We’d also like to take this moment to remind you that it’s always a good idea to shop local every day of the year and to support the Verona cafes and restaurants. These businesses regularly donate to many of our local charities.
