The youth sports program Verona Lacrosse has opened registration for the spring 2020 season.

The program is open to all Verona residents in kindergarten through eighth grade, with the regular season running from March to early June. The month of March primarily consists of practices, with games beginning in early April. Tournament play is also offered for all third- to eighth-grade teams. Verona Lacrosse welcomes players of all abilities and experience to become a part of the fastest growing sport in the country.

For children in grades K, 1, and 2, a “mini-laxer” clinic format is available. The clinic is held on Saturday afternoons for 1 hour from roughly April 4 through June 6. The cost of the Mini Laxer program is $75 or $100 with a new stick. The Mini Laxer program does not include winter indoor bubble sessions.

For grades 3 and 4, there are both girls and boys teams that typically play eight to 10 modified games against teams from nearby towns, and practice about twice a week. Verona Lacrosse strives for equal playing time at these grade levels. The cost of this program is $175 per player.

Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 play on competitive, gender specific teams and typically participate in 10 to 12 games against teams from nearby towns. Practices are usually 2 or 3 times a week. Based on registration numbers, grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be placed into teams based on ability, experience and commitment. Select/Challenge games may be scheduled for grades 5-8. All teams will have similar game schedules with the focus on scheduling games against appropriate competition-level opponents as our teams. The cost for grades 5 and 6 boys and girls is $210 per player. For grades 7 and 8 boys and girls the cost is $235.

Family discounts are available for 3 or more players in a household. You must register for all programs online.

The Verona youth lacrosse program is run by a volunteer board, and is coached for the most part by volunteers. Check-out www.veronalacrosse.org for more information. Volunteers are needed and are welcome to assist in coaching and general organizational duties. No previous lacrosse experience is required. Any community member interested in getting involved in the program please contact John Sorger ([email protected]).
