Jack McHugh was at NJPAC on Sunday, but not as part of the audience. Instead, VHS sophomore was there to perform with the New Jersey All-State Chorus.

The All-State Chorus is a by-audition musical group created by the New Jersey Music Educators Association. McHugh first had to audition in person last year for the All-Region Chorus and then, this past spring, he did a video audition for All-State. The Chorus rehearsed in the summer and early fall, and performed last week in Atlantic City before taking to the stage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

McHugh performs with the co-ed Mixed Chorus and he is not the only Verona High School student to be in an All-State vocal group. Karen Andre, a junior, successfully auditioned for the All-State Treble Chorus, which is for female voices only. The Treble Chorus will perform at NJPAC in February.
