BOE Candidates Question 3: Best Practices

Four candidates are competing for two seats on the Verona Board of Education this November: Jim Day, Sara Drappi, Glenn Elliott and Lynn Halsey. They come from different educational backgrounds, different careers and different experiences as Verona residents. MyVeronaNJ.com wanted to know how they would draw on their backgrounds as a member of the BOE, so we asked them this:

QUESTION 3: The BOE is essentially the board of directors of our schools. In a corporate setting, board members bring best practices from the outside world to the company they serve. What one best practice would you like to share?

MyVeronaNJ.com is sending candidates one question every Friday that they must respond to by noon on the following Tuesday. In Week 1, we asked them to explain the role of the BOE to voters. In Week 2, we asked about dealing with conflict. The candidates’ responses are listed in the order in which they are received, and MyVeronaNJ.com does not edit the answers in any way, whether for grammar, spelling or length.
