No, it’s not in Verona, but it is the work of a Verona artist.
Elina Rosenblum of BlumArts has just completed another public art project, a large mural on the wall of Maplewood Fire Station #2. “The town officials wanted to adorn this busy intersection with an image promoting public safety, and our proposal of a toy firetruck was selected,” says Blum. The fire house is located at the crossroads of Boyden and Springfield avenues in the southeastern corner of Maplewood.
Blum worked on the project with Vitaly Umansky, an artist from Tenafly. She says that it took the pair about three weeks from start to finish to complete the work, which is 13 feet high and about 50 feet long.
“As we were working, many pedestrians came up to us to enjoy the vividly colored mural and thank us for our efforts,” Blum said. “It truly feels wonderful to see how our works makes a difference for people.”
