I was surprised to discover that Laura Fortgang did not get NJEA’s support for NJ’s 26th Legislative District (Verona, North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Fairfield, Butler, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Rockaway, and West Milford).
As someone who has been a teacher educator at Montclair State University for the past 18 years and has spent a tremendous amount of time in NJ public schools working with teachers, and a parent of 2 sons who have benefitted greatly from Verona public schools, I know that Laura Fortgang’s stance on education is pro-teachers and pro-public schools.
She is deeply committed to New Jersey teachers and recognizes how hard they work and how much they deserve their benefits and pensions. She is proud of how New Jersey schools consistently rank at the very top of public schools in the nation, and very much attributes this to our wonderful teachers. She acknowledges that many teachers are taking home less pay today than they did years ago and that this cannot go on.
Laura knows that our schools are only as strong as our teachers and will continue to do everything in her power to support their work, their wages, and their future.
If you are a teacher or a parent or someone who appreciates living in New Jersey because of its outstanding public schools, you too should vote for Laura Fortgang for Assembly.
Sincerely,
Monica Taylor, Ph.D.
