Verona Kids Rock hosted a sewing event on Friday at the Cedar Grove Library where they made comfort port pillows for cancer patients. VKR is a group that helps Verona’s youngest residents to engage in community service projects.
The port pillows will be donated to the Summit Medical Center in Florham Park, and at the end of this month, the VKR kids will have the opportunity to hand deliver them to those in need. “All kids took pride in making their pillows,” says Dina Lilley, a parent who helped organize the group, “picking out design material for each one and carefully focusing on sewing on their machines.”
Lilley also wants the community to know that, since some of its kids are now in middle schoole, VKR has also expanded its members to the middle school level. “It is nice to see those kids who started off at elementary school under VKR continuing to grow and give back,” Lilley adds.
