Verona High School’s girls and boys soccer teams are holding a food drive this Wednesday, August 28, to benefit the Toni’s Kitchen Backpack Program. Every week, the program provides 250 backpacks filled with healthy non-perishables to local children in need. Toni’s Kitchen is the food and wellness ministry at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair.

Suggested donations include peanut butter and tomato sauce (not in glass jars), canned tuna and chicken, pasta, cereal, shelf-stable milk, rice, healthy snacks, dried or canned fruit, coffee and paper towels.

The teams are asking people to put their donations in a paper or plastic bag outside their front door on Wednesday, and they will pick it up.
