An accident on Bloomfield Avenue at Linn Drive just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday sent a motorist to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the Verona Police Department and eyewitnesses, the driver was traveling eastbound on Bloomfield when the accident happened. The driver ran a red light at Linn and Oakridge and clipped a car, which caused the driver’s vehicle to spin around and then flip, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. The car came to rest on the front steps of the former Poekel Travel Bureau Dream Luxury Cruises at 860 Bloomfield Avenue.

The driver was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital with serious injuries. The accident is currently under investigation and anyone with information related to it should contact the Verona Police Department at 973-239-5000.

UPDATE: Poekel Travel Bureau continues to exist and now has the trade name Dream Luxury Cruises. Poekel Properties LLC, Charles Poekel Jr., Esq. and the Neighborhood Cigar Store also operate from that location.

  1. Ms. Citrano:
Please note that Poekel Travel Bureau continues to exist and now has the trade name Dream Luxury Cruises. There is nothing “former” about it.
