We’ve still got weeks to go until the end of summer, but registration has just opened for the event that marks the end of summer in Verona: Verona UNICO’s Labor Day Classic. The event will be held this year on Monday, September 2, with be a one-mile fun run around Verona Park at 9 a.m., followed by the five-kilometer race at 9:30 a.m. The race is held on a USATF-certified course through the streets of Verona with the start on Lakeside Avenue and the finish in Verona Park.
Verona UNICO organizes this event with the Essex Running Club. It serves as a major fundraiser for UNICO, which uses the money to support local volunteer and non-profit organizations as well as scholarships for high school seniors who are residents of Verona.
Registration for the 5K is $25 ($20 for USATF members) and $15 for the fun run. You can register online here; online registration will close at midnight on Thursday, August 29.
