Mrs. Virginia G.”Ginny” Smith, 75, died on June 3, 2019 in Cedar Grove.Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. in the Cranford Alliance Church, 7 Cherry Street, Cranford.

Mrs. Smith was born in Hackensack, grew up in Kenilworth and lived in Verona for the past 36 years.

She worked for NJ Bell Telephone as a computer supervisor in Newark for 20 years before retiring in 1991. She was a member of the HG McCully Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers.

Mrs. Smith was an avid photographer and member of the Plainfield Camera Club. She was also involved with the Parkinson’s Support Group of North Jersey and a very active member of the Cranford Alliance Church.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her parents, Avary and Grace (nee Anderson) Ward and her sister, Dorothy Margraf.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, William J. (Bill) Smith, stepchildren, William Smith and Patricia “Patti” Carnes (Todd) and grandchildren, Steven and Melissa Smith. She is also survived by her brother, David Ward and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that donations in her memory be considered to the Cranford Alliance Church Benevolence Fund, 7 Cherry Street, Cranford, NJ 07016. Condolences may left at www.proutfuneralhome.com.
