John Quattrocchi, the former president of the Verona Board of Education and Verona resident for over 26 years, today announced his bid for one of the Town Council seats up for election this May. Current Council member Alex Roman And Deputy Mayor Michael Nochimson are running for re-election; other candidates will be disclosed by the town clerk later today.

In a statement, Quattrocchi noted that he served for 15 years on BOE and was president for most of those years, giving him an established working relationship with the Town Council. He was also a founding member of Verona Foundation for Educational Excellence (VFEE), the nonprofit that awards grants to Verona teachers to supplement instructional materials. Quattrocchi ran unsuccessfully for a sixth term on the BOE last November.

In his career, Quattrocchi is now the managing director and global head of product development and strategy at Barclays Bank. He is also a senior leader, mentor and advocate for Barclays Women’s Network.

Quattrocchi says that if he is elected to Town Council, he will emphasize teamwork and collaboration to help Verona to continue to be a great place to live. As he did on the BOE, Quattrocchi will be laying out a strategic vision for the town, and in particular a plan for dealing with over-development. He is also looking to improve the dialogue between the township and town agencies, with a focus on financial responsibility.

“Verona is a fantastic town and I am proud to be a part of it,” Quattrocchi said in a statement. “I see, however, a real need for firm and experienced leadership to manage Verona’s changing dynamics, particularly as it pertains to traffic and safety, fiscal responsibility and collaboration between the various groups that comprise Verona. I want to be part of the solution, bringing people together. I believe that without teamwork, there can be no true leadership and my vision will help improve these areas.”
