The Verona High School wrestling team held its “Grappling For a Cure” fundraiser for Alzheimer’s on Saturday, February 9. The event was first created by VHS alumni Mark Riggio, whose own grandmother battled Alzheimer’s. It has been the team’s community service project since 2013.
The event raised $1,170, which will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. A check will be presented at the “Running for Answers” event scheduled for May 4 in Roseland.
If you would like to help the team raise dollars for Alzheimer’s research, you can still make a donation by contacting Heather Riggio at [email protected].
