The Verona High School girls basketball team hosted Orange for its Senior Night on Tuesday and came away with a 53-23 blowout.

Senior Desiree Meyer led all scorers–and even topped Orange’s team total–with 24 points that included four of her signature three-pointers. Fellow senior Brianna Horton had two three-pointers of her own, and led the Hillbillies in rebounds. Lourdes Ricks is also a member of the Class of 2019 and her court time on Tuesday yielded three points. Latanaijah Lovett was the high scorer for Orange.

The Lady Hillbillies will be back in action on Thursday, February 7, at 4 p.m. for the first round of the Essex County Tournament, in a game that was moved up from Saturday. Verona is the No.7 seed and will be hosting the No.10 seed West Essex at VHS. Verona has a 14-3 record overall this year.
