On Saturday, January 19, approximately 26 fourth and fifth graders participated in the annual Spelling Bee competition held at F.N. Brown Elementary School. The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona would like to thank all the children who participated and congratulate our winners. Congratulations to Andrew Ackerman, third place (H.B. Whitehorne); Andrew Liaukus, second place (HBW); and Leah Bachan, first place (HBW).
Thank you to our judges: Cheryl Ashley, director of the Verona Public Library; Dr. Rui Dionisio, superintendent of Verona Public Schools; and Corisa Walker, library media specialist at F.N. Brown and Brookdale Schools, who kindly volunteered their time for the morning. Thank you to Diana Weeks and Laura Garnet from the Verona Juniors who organized the event. Finally, thank you to Verona Junior Rachel Klansky who announced the words.
