Mary Therese Ciccotti died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the age of 92, in the Mountainside Hospital. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Saturday, January 12 at 12:30 p.m. Visiting will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Born and raised in Chicago, Mary moved to Verona 68 years ago, where she was a self-employed seamstress and full-time mother of 11 children.

Mary was a long-time member of Our Lady of the Lake Church, where she was active as a eucharistic minister. Mary participated in the Marriage Encounter program and was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Mary and her husband, James, ran the Ciccotti breakfast at the Holly Bazaar in OLL for many years. She was also a den mother for BSA Cub Pack 4 and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6255 in Cedar Grove.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, James Ciccotti, her daughter, Rose Hunter and her siblings, Joseph Peifer, Dr. Frank Peifer and Cathy Goodfriend Ryan. She is the mother of Mary Arthur, Terry DiPasquale, Jo Moore, Barbara Amato, Rita Gerhold, Carol Homer, Ann Finnegan, Donna Francis, Anthony Ciccotti and James Ciccotti. She is a grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother to many. Mary is also survived by her sister Claudia Janda.
