Mrs. Carol H. Traill, 85, died on December 26, 2018 in Verona. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Saturday December 29 from 3 to 6 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service at 5:30 p.m. Memorial services will be held in the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, Fairview Avenue, Verona, on Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m.

Born in Glen Ridge, Mrs. Traill grew up in Montclair, moving to Verona in 1955.

She received her bachelor’s from Montclair Teacher’s College and worked as a substitute teacher for the Verona Board of Education and at the Jefferson Park Daycare Center in Elizabeth. Mrs. Traill was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, singing in the choir and serving as a deacon.

She was a member and past grand officer, secretary and treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lincoln Chapter 95.

Active in Verona, she was a dispatcher for the Verona Ambulance Unit, was a Girl Scout troop leader and was a long-time avid bowler with the Fairview Women League.

She was predeceased by her husband, David P. Traill and her brother, Richard Alan Hellegas. She is survived by her daughters, Diana L. Coppola (Alfonse), Laura J. Beck and Amy L. Miller (John), and son, David W. Traill; her grandchildren, Denise Sibiga, Rebecca Schwartz (Matthew), Kirstin Glasgow, Bryan D. Beck, Heather L. Beck (Manuel F. Gonzalez), David M. Traill and Larissa R. Levitt (Christopher); and seven great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Jr., Angel, Audrey, Conner, Manuel, Jr., Athena and Colton. Mrs. Traill is also survived by her brother, William Hellegas (Jeanne), sister-in-law, Ruby Klabenesh.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Verona Rescue Squad would be appreciated.
