Friday is the last day of school before the holiday break in Verona, and it will be a half day at all schools. Before then, there’s a week filled with Verona High School sports and holiday events, including a Blue Christmas service at First Presbyterian Church for those struggling with loss.

Last day for toy drive

Boys basketball vs. Weequahic , 4 p.m. at VHS
Blue Christmas, 7:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church

Wednesday, December 19
Last day to enter Verona Junior’s Spelling Bee
Wrestling vs. West Essex, 4 p.m., at VHS
Hockey vs. Arthur L. Johnson, 6:45 p.m., at Warinaco Park

Thursday, December 20
Girls basketball vs. Shabazz, 4 p.m., at Shabazz High School
Boys basketball vs. West Essex, 4 p.m., at VHS
Knit For A Cause, 7 p.m., Verona Public Library
Swimming vs. Millburn, 8 p.m., Caldwell Community Center Pool
