Advent And Christmas At First Presbyterian

December is a busy month at the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, located at 10 Fairview Avenue in Verona. There is something for everyone!

Sunday, December 2, Worship Service, 10:15 a.m. First Sunday In Advent. Alternative Christmas Mall to be held in Chamberlain Hall following the service. Do your holiday shopping while supporting good causes such as the Friendly Neighbors, Sunday Supper Program and so much more!

Saturday, December 8, Children’s Christmas Workshop, 10 a.m – 2 p.m.: All children are invited to join us for a fun time of crafts, music, lunch, God Time, baking and the Decorating Extravaganza. The cost to participate is $10 per child ($25 family max) and registration is required. Registration forms are available at the church, Thrift Shop or by calling the church (973-239-3561). Please make checks payable to First Presbyterian Church of Verona with “Christmas Children’s Program” in the check memo.

Sunday, December 9, Worship Service, 10:15 a.m. Second Sunday In Advent. Special Advent Music by the Chancel Choir.

Saturday, December 15, Hanging of the Greens, 7 p.m. Light supper followed by singing and decorating the church for the holidays. Call the church office for reservations.

Sunday, December 16, Worship Service, 10:15 a.m. Third Sunday In Advent Special guest musician, harpist, Robbin Gordon-Cartier.

Tuesday, December 18, Blue Christmas, 7:30 p.m. A service of worship co-hosted by the First Presbyterian Church and the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, and held at the Presbyterian Church. This service is for anyone who finds that Christmas can be a challenging time. It is an opportunity to walk away from the chaos and let soft light and gentle music speak to you of healing and the presence of God in your life.

Sunday, December 23, Worship Service, 10:15 a.m. Fourth Sunday In Advent . Chancel choir will be presenting special music.

Monday, December 24, Family Service, 4 p.m. All families are welcome to join in the holiday cheer. All children are invited to participate in a recreation of the Christmas Story.

Monday, December 24, Service of Lessons and Carols, 9 p.m. This is a more reflective service and features musical interludes by the Chancel Choir as the Christmas Story is told.
