The Verona High School girls soccer team advanced to the second round of the North 2 Group 2 playoffs after a solid 5-0 win over Becton on Tuesday. Verona came into the tournament as the #7 seed to Becton’s #10.

Senior Lara Tole dominated the game, scoring four of Verona’s five goals. She got her first one in the next at the 34.10 minute mark, and scored her second on a pass from Madison Gallagher at 26.06.
At 22.56, Ally Madigan passed to Tole for her third goal. Fellow senior Sarah Carlucci then took over the ball, driving it down and passing to Madigan, who scored at 16.17, putting Verona up 4-0 at the half. There was only one Verona score in the second half, again by Tole.

The win puts the Lady Hillbillies’ record at 8-6-2. The girls will travel to Morris Tech, the #2 seed, on Friday for their second playoff.
