In July, six Verona residents filed to run for two seats on the Board of Education. Since then, both Michele Bernardino, a current BOE member, and Lynn Halsey, have withdrawn their candidatures. That means that, on November 6 Verona voters will choose from among four candidates: current BOE President John Quattrocchi, Timothy Alworth, Pamela J. Priscoe and David Rullo. To help voters meet the candidates and learn about their views, MyVeronaNJ.com is asking every candidate to respond to a weekly question about the issues facing Verona.
On Saturday, September 15, MyVeronaNJ.com asked the four candidates the first question, which they had to respond to by noon on Tuesday. Candidates’ responses are listed in the order in which they were received, and MyVeronaNJ.com did not edit the answers in any way, including grammar, spelling or length. Candidates were also asked to send a photo, and the URLs to their campaign websites or social media.
A new question will be sent to candidates every Saturday until October 20. The candidates will also respond to questions during a Conference of SCAs candidates forum on Tuesday, October 23, at Verona High School.
