Mr. Joseph L. DeLaura, 69, died on September 14, 2018 at his home in West Caldwell, surrounded by his loving family. A funeral mass will be offered in St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell, on Monday, September 17 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Born in Montclair and raised in Verona, Mr. DeLaura lived in West Caldwell for the past 41 years. Mr. DeLaura earned a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University and was a physical education teacher in the Edison School District for 30 years, retiring in 2002.

He was a supervisor with the Verona Recreation Department during the summer and an umpire for the Verona men’s softball teams. He was a devoted father who was always there for his children.

Mr. DeLaura is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Constance (nee DeMiro) DeLaura, his loving children, Krista McNaught (Bryan), Joseph DeLaura (Lisa), Bobby DeLaura (Nicole) and Mark DeLaura (Piper); his seven cherished grandchildren, Cally, Sophia, Anna, Veronica, Joseph, Nicholas and Robert; and his brother, Louis DeLaura (Suzie).
