Kate Ashley qualified for track & field’s Meet of Champions for the second consecutive year in the 800m, after placing second at the NJSIAA Group 1 Championship on Saturday in a time of 2:18.02.
Erin Petrino got her personal best with a vault 9’6” in pole-vault. Freshman Bridget O’Donnell also ran her personal best in the 3200m in 12:44.3.

Verona High School sent several female athletes to Groups, which saw Owen Fogarty of the VHS boys team break a 44-year-old school record in pole vault. Lily Benanchietti competed for the girls in pole vault; Julia DiGeronimo, Bridget O’Donnell, Kathleen Nagy and Brianna Rigney ran the 4 x 800m; and Olivia Fiore, Olivia Vogel, Chelsea Gruskin and Kate Ashley competed as the 4 x 400m team. Ashley also ran the 400m, finishing ninth.
The Meet of Champions will be held Saturday, June 9, at Northern Burlington High School. Fogarty will also be competing after placing second in Group 1 pole vault.
