Free Friday Flicks At Kips

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites families to come to Essex County Kip’s Castle Park for the Free Friday Flicks in June. Gates open at 7 p.m. and movies will be shown at dusk on the lawn at Essex County Kip’s Castle, 22 Crestmont Avenue, Verona. The public is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets on which to sit. Admission is free; refreshments will be for sale.

“We invite you to join us for an exciting night at the movies on our Kip’s Castle Park lawn. Families can enjoy the outdoor movie presentation and experience this magnificent location in a new way,” DiVincenzo said. “We look forward to seeing you at what will be an entertaining evening for children, families and individuals of all ages,” he added.

Friday, June 8th: “Beauty and the Beast;” rated PG (Rain date is Saturday, June 9th). Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. Before the movie, Storybook Beauty will make an appearance at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, June 15th: “Mary Poppins;” rated G (Rain date is Saturday, June 16th). Julie Andrews made her Oscar-winning film debut as the “practically perfect” Mary Poppins, a magical nanny who enlightens the lives of every one she meets while caring for a stiff banker’s two children in London in the early 1900s. Before the movie, there will be a show by Great Scott! Magic Show starring Scott Drukker and his talking parrot Thurston at 7:30 p.m.
