Verona’s public schools are in the development phase of their next five-year Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan Steering Committee recently completed work on the district’s mission statement, values and core beliefs, and strategic goals. Verona’s superintendent, Dr. Rui Dionisio, is now looking to recruit volunteers to serve on the Action Teams that will meet from March to May to develop action plans for each of the strategies outlined in the Strategic Plan.
The revised strategies set by the Strategic Plan Steering Committee are to:
- Secure and optimize financial resources;
- Uphold a healthy and respectful school culture consistent with our core values;
- Partner locally and globally to expand opportunities for our school community;
- Continue to implement an engaging curriculum with meaningful experiences;
- Provide relevant professional development and resources to support dynamic teaching; and
- Continue to provide upgraded technology and sustainable facilities
The Action Teams will review and refine each of the strategies and the goals that will guide the district’s work over the next five years. Participation on these action teams is open to the entire community and will require evening commitments from participants. A kickoff meeting will be scheduled in March.

The Verona Public Schools’ 2013-2018 Strategic Plan can be viewed on the district’s website. The committee’s recommended revisions to the Strategic Plan will be presented to the public at a future Board of Education meeting.
