Mr. James R. Bredahl, 77, died on February 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. 

Mr. Bredahl was born and raised in Livingston and lived for the past 14 years in Verona. He worked for Motorola as a sales person early in his career where he developed a lifelong fascination with new technologies and gadgets. He was among the first users of a portable phone (two-way radio transmitter), pager, digital watch and personal computer. He left Motorola to help run a family construction business but returned to technology later in life by forming an office technology consultancy company.

He was always positive and supportive, enjoyed a good joke and lively banter, cared about others more than himself, and was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Bredahl is survived by his caring and devoted wife of 20 years, Susan, loving children, Deborah Bredahl, Rob Bredahl (Kim), Steven Bredahl (Andrea), Thomas Bredahl (Elizabeth), Meghan Murphy (Brian), and Pamela Garcia (Jon), Michael Sikora and cherished grandchildren, Dominique Garcia, Michael Garcia, Olivia Garcia, Jonna Garcia, Samantha Turner (Sean), Nicholas Bredahl, Michael Bredahl, Elizabeth Bredahl, Chris Bredahl, Mac Bredahl, Jane Bredahl, Peter Bredahl, Owen Bredahl, John Bredahl and Declan Murphy.  He is also survived by his three brothers, Richard (Carole), Kenneth (Patsy) and Roy (Elizabeth).

Mr. Bredahl was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Clara, and son, Matthew.

Visiting will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with the memorial service beginning at 6 p.m.
