Verona’s public schools are getting ready to develop their next five-year Strategic Plan and Superintendent Dr. Rui Dionisio is looking to put together a Steering Committee that will include parents and other community members, as well as high school students, faculty, administrators and members of the Board of Education.
There are only 25 spots on the Steering Committee and, to serve, you must be able to participate in meetings on Wednesdays January 17, 24 and 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Steering Committee will develop the high-level approach to the next Strategic Plan, including revisions to the current mission statement and goals, and the strategies to carry out the mission and goals.
If you are interested in serving on the Strategic Plan Steering Committee, you need to indicate that by Friday, December 22, by submitting your information to this link. The changes recommended by the Steering Committee will be presented at a future Board of Education meeting
Once the Steering Committee has done its work, the district will form Action Teams that will meet in the evening from February to May to develop plans for each of the strategies in the Strategic Plan. There will be no limit to the number of people who can participate in the Action Teams. The district will be sending out details on volunteering for a team at a later date.
If you want to get background on the kind of work you will be doing, you can read the current Strategic Plan (2013-2018) on the district’s website.
