2017 varsity co-captains: (l-r) seniors Anna Rosinski and Isabel Latorre, and junior Ally Madigan
The Verona High School girls varsity soccer team narrowly lost the first game of their season on Tuesday 1-0, playing at home against the Bernards Mountaineers.

“Despite the score, our girls outplayed Bernards in the second half, also holding them at 1-0 for over 60 minutes and getting 8 shots on goal,” said Coach Kerrin Goosman. “It was a triumph as Bernards went 12-8 last season compared to Verona’s 3-15.”

Goosman, a 2005 graduate of VHS and soccer coach in the New York Red Bulls training program, is the new head coach of a team comprised of two seniors, seven juniors, seven sophomores and three freshman.
