Mrs. Hortense “Perrie” Robinson, 91, died on August 20, 2017 in Cedar Grove. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, will be on Thursday, August 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Friday at 10 a.m.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Robinson moved to Verona in June of 1965.

She graduated from the Berkley Secretarial School in East Orange and was an executive secretary for the Phelps Dodge Company in New York City for 41 years, retiring on March 1, 1988.

Mrs. Robinson began a lifelong love of the sport of speed skating and could still be found circling the ice at South Mountain Arena, Floyd Hall Arena and the lake in Verona Park well into her eighties.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Robinson and the sister of the late Theodora Pannullo. Mrs. Robinson is survived by her cousins, Mary Ann Nardone and Maria Liloia; her nephews, Peter Balouskas, Dr. Robert Robinson and Thomas Robinson; her brother-in-law, Robert Robinson and many Perillo and Gabriel cousins.
