Louis S. Belanger Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22,2017. He was 84.

Born in Montclair, he lived in Verona before moving to Toms River in 1998.

Louis was a volunteer fireman with the Verona Fire Department Company #1 for 40 years. He was also a fireman with the Essex County Hospital.

He served in the U.S Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Pauline (Ruggiero) Belanger; three daughters: Sharon Jones of Florida, Suzanne Eckert and her husband Joe of Ortley Beach, and Stacy Christiano and Burke of Florida; and two sons: Steve of New Lisbon and Scott and his wife Renee of Hopatcong. Also by six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. with a service to begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Verona Fire Department Company #1, Verona Fire Dept. Co. #1, 880 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ 07044.
