A water main broke on Bloomfield Avenue on Sunday afternoon and traffic east and west through Verona–and south to West Orange–is going to be slowed by the repairs today.
The Verona Police Department sent out a Nixle alert at 4:09 p.m. on Sunday about the initial break, which occurred on the avenue near the key Lakeside Avenue intersection. Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction east and west so that the Verona Department of Public Works could get started on repairs.
At 8:09 p.m., the police sent out an alert saying that water would be shut off on the avenue from Lakeside to Grove Avenue because of the ongoing repairs. Water was turned back on in the area this morning.
That work continues. The police sent out another alert just before 9 a.m. that traffic on Bloomfield Avenue would continue to be only one lane in either direction this morning.
The Bloomfield Avenue break wasn’t the only water main trouble in Verona. There was a water main break on Cypress Avenue last Tuesday and another on Ann Street on Friday. Both of those streets are on the F.N. Brown side of town.
