Ashley, Waterman Lead Verona Girls At Essex Track Championship

Kate Ashley and Carly Waterman had outstanding performances at the Essex County Track & Field Championships at Woodman Field in Montclair this past weekend. Ashley took second place in the 800m run with a time of 2:19 and fourth place in the 400m with a time of 59.5, even though she had not been able to practice all week due to a foot issue. Waterman got third place in shot put with a throw of 36′ 2 3/4″, missing second place by just 3 1/2 inches.

The following Verona athletes also competed at the meet:

1600m: Julia DiGeronimo (5:55)
800m: Kathleen Nagy (2:32), Brianna Rigney (2:33)
High-Hurdles: Cianna Winkler (17.8), Carolyn Feeley (19.3)
100m: Chelsea Gruskin (13.65)
200m: Chelsea Gruskin (27.65)
Pole vault: Kelly Petrino (8’0″) Lily Benanchietti and Erin Petrino (7’6″)
Javelin: Caitlin Kenneally (77’10”)
Discus: Isabel Latorre (78’8″), Gabriella Petti (71’7″)
Shot put: Caleigh Holton (24’9″)
