As long time conscientious residents, my husband and I feel that the Verona Town Council election on May 9 is of great importance. The eradication of nepotism, cronyism and wasteful spending at all levels of Verona government has compelled us to publicly laud Mayor Kevin Ryan and Deputy Michael Nochimson, along with the newest council member, Alex Roman. While diverse in their backgrounds, experience and opinions, they work together on behalf of all Verona voters and residents they represent, resulting in positive changes. These civil servants have not wavered from their campaign promises, as demonstrated by no municipal tax increases in Verona in the last three years, while maintaining and improving town administration, municipal services and support. This is something we had not experienced from Verona’s counsel for many years. They have also illuminated bullying tactics and self-dealing from our local politics.

It is our hope that in this upcoming election, we vote for Town Council representatives that recognize the positive changes that Michael, Kevin and Alex have worked to accomplish. Verona needs to continue to move forward to further improve our community and spend every taxpayer dollar wisely. We need Council members with clear purpose, the unselfish motivation of serving all residents of Verona, or those that are not running under any possible influences of the past tax-and-spend ways or influences outside of Verona.

Mayor Kevin Ryan and candidates Jack McEvoy and Chris Piccuirro fit this hope. Please consider joining us in voting for them in the May 9 town Council election.

Jack McEvoy has played a key role as a citizen in the positive changes we now enjoy, by being an active participant at Council meetings for years and years, sharing his thoughts and solutions with council members and town administrators. He has volunteered countless hours of his time on behalf of all around the residence and taxpayers.

Chris Piccuirro wants to join the town Council to work hard and continue in this positive direction that the council has moved to in the last two years. He is a father of young children and will add a unique and individual perspective to the council. He is a computer engineer and is a trained and experienced problem solver, who will use his knowledge and background to benefit all Verona residents.

Kevin Ryan, Jack McEvoy and Chris Piccuirro are strong voices for ALL Verona residents.

Sincerely,

Nora and Mark Brenneis

Attn. Carrie Ford ( our so called shopping center is anything but!)
I received one of your hand advertisements on my door. Carrie I notice that you are advocating amongst other things Revitalization of or downtown.
I am a resident of Verona for some 25yrs..I have watched politician after politician stand up prior to becoming a council person. Most prior to election scream out how they are the best thing that could happen for Verona and it, s citizens.
The disappointment factor is high on how many when elected slide back into the town hall woodwork with most there promises and if the towns people are lucky might see them at a town meeting explaining what they have done or NOT.
Our revitalization of downtown boarders a joke! When and if you slip down to Montclair or go up to Caldwell and see the remarkable job that has been accomplished, I get sick to my stomach. Embarrassment
Is the only wood that come to mind? We appears to have our heads neatly imbedded into concrete. Is there one candidate that can easily see the need for out of the box thinking to revitalize that mess on Bloomfield Ave. One has to be blind to not see the blatant lack of unconcern.

Look we all have to wake up and see that what should be a viable shopping for our town is a dream. Short thinking, or maybe no thinking has rain supreme on this subject. Easy solutions are only a stone’s throw away.
Our town council and merchants should join forces and create a viable program for swift progress to this problem, how? By first addressing the fact that the laxity shown is not acceptable.
    Example:
Initiate a future program that will attempt and address our need for a better image. How? By organizing a town hall invitation to all large chain stores to a cup of coffee and some pastry and discuss there future in our town. Lands End , William Sonoma, The Gap, Crew, The Loft, Starbucks, and many more which I will leave to your choice
“If you help build and an nourish this idea”. Grab the ring and move forward. If no business as usual! Please do not tell me that it can’t be done. That will be the first error in a progression of bad way of avoiding the need to grow.
If you take the time and see the average salaries of our townspeople it speaks volumes of possibilities. The first step has to come from the awareness and can do spirit we need in our leadership to think then act
