Verona resident Chrystine Gaffney is a certified Master Gardener who volunteers as a farmer at Montclair Community Farms (MCF), which grows and sells produce at affordable prices to area seniors. She’s let us know that, this summer, Montclair Community Farms’ mobile farm stand will also be serving the food pantry at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Verona, and it could use a bit of community support.

The mobile farm stand was made possible from a U.S. Department of Agriculture start-up grant that allowed MCF to lease a pick up truck and build a mobile farm stand in 2016. MCF now needs to support two more years of its truck lease and it is looking to raise $21,000 for the remaining years of the lease, maintenance costs, and insurance. Donations directly the support the mobile farm stand and will ensure its existence through 2021. The mobile farm stand, which is hitched to a pick up truck, was built by the Professional Woodworkers Guild of Upper New Jersey.

If you are interested, you can send a check to Montclair Community Farms at 108 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ 07042, or donate online to MCF’s Crowdrise campaign.
