Fire Damages Hillcrest Terrace Home

Verona Fire Department cat rescueA Hillcrest Terrace resident and her cat are safe after a fire damaged three floors of her home today.

The Verona Fire Department, Police Department and Rescue Squad responded to the scene just after noon on Tuesday. The fire did extensive damage to one side of home, which was being worked on by contractors.

The homeowner was safely evacuated to a neighbor’s house and the VFD treated her cat for smoke inhalation. There were no injuries to any of the first responders.

Verona Police Chief Mitchell Stern said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
