The Rochelle Park Police Department has arrested a New York City couple in connection with the use of an ATM skimming device at banks in New York and New Jersey, including a Chase bank branch in Verona.

According to the Hackensack Daily Voice, the pair is alleged to have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars by collecting personal information from bank credit and debit cards used at ATMs. Perpetrators sometimes use this information themselves, or sell it to identity thieves. In early March, the Verona Police Department discovered a skimmer on the ATM at the Chase Bank branch located at the intersection of Claremont and Pompton avenues.

The couple arrested have been identified as Teck W. Gim, 28, and Wendy Gim, 39. They were arrested early Thursday, along with “a large amount of U.S. currency and several items of evidence”, Rochelle Park Lt. Dean Pinto told the Hackensack Daily Voice. Authorities also seized a 2016 Porsche Cayenne and a 2015 Ford Explorer.

Teck Gim is being held in the Bergen County Jail on multiple counts including possessing a forgery device. Wendy Gim was released without bail on a charge that include trafficking in personal identification.
