With the new Town Council election coming up in May, it looks like the candidates set to run for office are in place. Mayor Kevin Ryan is the only incumbent seeking reelection, and two other seats on the council are available. Finally, the last of the old majority council have decided to set off into the sunset and not run again: Councilman Manley and Councilman Sniatkowski. As our new president has mentioned so often regarding draining the swamp in Washington, at long last, we’ve finally drained the swamp in Verona.
Our town can never allow itself to be governed by people who cannot see further than their nose. We are entering our third year of no increase in municipality taxes, but credit can only go to our Mayor Kevin Ryan, our fiscal ambassador Deputy Mayor Michael Nochimson, and Councilman Alex Roman. What a great job these men have done in curtailing the wasteful spending that had transpired for a decade prior to this majority council. These men have lived up to the promises that they made.
Mayor Ryan as an incumbent should be reelected. His dedication and commitment to the people of Verona is second to none. Also, newcomer Jack McEvoy, who has been very involved in town matters and never misses a council meeting, also portrays fiscal responsibility towards Verona’s affairs. Mr. McEvoy would fit in nicely with the present majority council because we need to stay the course that the present majority council is on, namely, fiscal responsibility.
