Not one flake has fallen yet, but the Verona Public Schools are taking no chances. Superintendent Rui Dionisio has sent out an email notifiying parents that all schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, due to the anticipated snow storm. All activities and athletics are also cancelled for tomorrow, as is the Verona Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for tomorrow from midnight Tuesday through midnight Wednesday, and says that snow accumulations could be 18 to 24 inches. It is also warning that gusty winds could cause power outages.
Separately, Essex County has announced that Turtle Back Zoo, the Codey Arena, Environmental Center and Senior Centers within the Essex County Parks System will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, because of the snow storm.
