Attention all veterans: U.S. Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen and a wide range of veterans, government, community and business organizations are sponsoring a Veterans’ Jobs Fair on Saturday March 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wayne YMCA, 1 Pike Drive, Wayne. The event is designed to provide veterans, men and women alike, with assistance in finding jobs as well as making decisions about their career.
“After their health, future employment is one of the top priorities of any veteran transitioning from military to civilian life,” said Frelinghuysen, a veteran of the Vietnam War. “One million veterans are already unemployed and millions more will leave the services in coming years. We need to support them just as they have supported us when they wore the nation’s uniform. This Jobs Fair is just one way to help.”
Cosponsors of the Job Fair include Mayor Chris Vergano and the Township of Wayne, the Passaic County Board of Freeholders, Community Hope, Passaic County Veterans Services, American Legion Post 174, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 174, Jewish War Veterans Post 695, Lakeland Chapter of the Marine Corps League, Military Order of the Purple Heart and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs which will provide enrollment assistance and benefits counseling.
“By virtue of their training, discipline and experiences, veterans have a great deal to offer employers. However, too often their transition from military service to civilian life is difficult for many reasons,” Frelinghuysen said. “This Veterans Fair will provide advice and real life counseling and networking opportunities with prospective employers.”
