The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has nominated Verona High School student Cianna Winkler as a candidate in their inaugural “Student of the Year” fundraising challenge, which runs until March 8.
Winkler says she accepted the challenge to honor everyone who has battled cancers, like her grandmother and grandfather, and to raise money that will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission to find a cure and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Winkler has been engaged in a variety of community service initiatives over the years, including a winter coat drive and helping to organize a program to bring hot meals to those in need on the first Sunday of every month. Winkler is also an active pageant competitor and was most recently crowned Miss America’s Gateway Outstanding Teen 2017.
