Town Posts 5 New Positions

jobsThe Township of Verona has posted openings for five municipal positions, both full and part-time.

The first opening is for an assistant municipal engineer, for a workweek of 25 to 35 hours. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a Professional Engineers license or an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. The position pays $45 to $60 an hour, and applications are due by March 14.

Verona also needs a full-time custodial worker in the Buildings and Grounds Department. Applicants must be a citizen and resident of New Jersey, and the annual salary for the position is $35,026. Applications for this position are due March 10.

The township sewage plant has an entry-level opening for a full-time sewage plant attendant. Duties include operation of the wastewater treatment facility, collection system, mechanical repair and other duties. the position may include evening and weekend shifts. A college degree or credits and wastewater or collection system licenses or experience are preferred but not required, and a commercial driver’s license valid in New Jersey is preferred. The salary range is $35,026 to $40,932. Applications for this position are also due March 10.

The Public Works Department has a full-time opening for a laborer. This is an unskilled position and evening and weekend work may be required. Applicants must be a citizen and resident of New Jersey, and the annual salary for the position is $35,026. Applications for this position are due March 10.

Finally, the township needs certified and experienced public safety telecommunicators for its dispatching operation. This is a per diem job, with a starting wage of $12 to $15 per hour and a maximum of 25 hours per week. Certified applicants with little to no experience may be considered for employment as a public safety telecommunicator trainee. Interested applicants should follow these directions to submit their candidacy to the chief of police.
